Letting God Paint

Reader,

Do you struggle with overwhelming emotions?

Does it sometimes feel like you're getting pummeled by a sandstorm of difficult feelings?

Does the mounting stress of your painful feelings cause you to snap at people or push them away?

Are you resorting to things like social media scrolling, vaping, alcohol, staying busy, and other distractions to numb yourself from the emotional onslaught?

Today, I'm sharing an approach that will transform your relationship with difficult emotions.

That way, instead of feeling tortured by difficult feelings, you can recognize difficult feelings for the opportunity they truly are.

This approach will help you connect more deeply with your intuition, your compassion, and your patience, allowing you to navigate stressful situations with more creativity and grace.

the hidden gift within difficult emotions

Difficult emotions are empowering messages waiting to be opened.

These emotional messages offer clarity, insight, and guidance to serve us on our journey through life.

They're pearls of wisdom hidden inside of the closed oyster shells of difficult feelings.

One difficult emotion may be trying to teach you a more effective way to communicate with your spouse about your finances.

Another difficult emotion may be trying to show you how to effectively work yoga classes into your weekly routine.

If we don't know how to open and receive these emotional messages, we start to feel blocked and overwhelmed.

Our heart starts to feel like a mailbox that's stuffed to the limit.

We experience this as mounting stress and the dreadful sense that we're missing out on something important.

The longer this pattern continues, the more burned out and lost we feel.

letting God paint

To unlock the precious gifts hidden within our difficult feelings, use these three keys:

☑️ softening

☑️ feeling

☑️ flowing

Softening:

When you feel difficult emotions surging within you, the instinct is to harden: to put up a shield and deflect the difficult feelings away.

To tap into the hidden power of your difficult feelings, do the exact opposite: soften.

Soften the tension in your body.

Soften your gaze. Soften your jaw. Soften your anus, your shoulders, your hands, your feet.

Feel into your heart and soften any tension you feel there.

It's like switching the sign on your heart-motel from "no vacancy" to "vacancy."

You're inviting the difficult emotion to come into your heart so it can share its gift with you.

Feeling:

As the difficult emotion comes closer to your heart, let yourself feel the emotion.

Feel the raw sensations of it.

Feel its energy, its movement, its texture.

Feel the emotion moving deeper into your heart.

The more intimately you feel your difficult emotion at your heart, the more you invite that emotion to open and to share its empowering message with you.

Flowing:

Difficult emotions don't share their empowering messages on our timeline.

They work on God's mysteriously perfect schedule.

If we try to force the emotion to share its secret, we push the emotion and its secret away.

If we allow the emotion to share its secret over time, we reap the greatest benefit.

One way to do this is to flow.

Feel your breath flowing in and out of your body, and let your mind follow the flow.

Feel your heart beating, and let your mind flow with the pulsing rhythm.

The more we connect with flow, the calmer and more patient we become, allowing the difficult emotion to paint its empowering message upon the canvas of our hearts, one felt moment at a time.

These messages are less like emails and more like paintings, unfolding one brushstroke at a time.

When we force or rush the process, we stop the sacred brush.

When we soften, feel, and flow, we let God paint, and our life becomes God's artwork in motion.
